Hey All,

This is a video clip of a famous Lebanese singer, Fares Karam, and his band when touring Sydney Australia last year.

Here you will see Kevork Tabals, Maktoums and a Mazhur in action.

  • Nice.. It's a great feeling to see your own doumbek in action with such a famous band :)
    • It was surreal for me to watch other youtube clips of the Australian tour and see grainy images of my drum in unknown places. I can understand now why Jamal didn't want to use his tinny old $80 drum.
      • Looks like you should have stayed close to your drum Ignatius!

Funny story. I did say to Jamal that even though I didn't want the drum to go on an airplane, if he had to then don't put it through luggage as it didn't have a hard case.

He was also suppose to sneak me into the concerts but they were jammed pack with people. The Saturday afternoon after the tour finished I call Jamal up to get my drum back. He reveals he is at band practice as Fares was also going to do a private wedding that night. He forgot to mention this to me.

So I finally got to see Fares Karam perform at this wedding and it was probably a better experience than the concerts. I can imagine Fares was wondering who the chinese guy with the camera in his face all night was.

Footage came in handy when I had to teach myself how to play the tabal for a performance a couple of months ago.
