Issam has it on his rhythm cd. I asked him once if Kuwaiti was an English name for the rhythm or was there a proper Arabic name and he reckoned it was called Kuwaiti.

Have no idea of the time signature but to my ear sounds like this

    D--D--D--S-S-S-

On the BDSS dvd Issam plays it in his drum solo which sounds like this.

Yeah, that looks like a variation on Choybi / Shabbi (not certain of spelling) which makes it an Iraqi beat.

I'm playing around with the midi player. I think the kuwait is a 4/4 if I put back the rest I lobed off and stick it in the middle

          D--D--D---S-S-S-

This is Chobi, I don't think it's related. Not enough doums

          D-D-D-S-D-kS-kS-

I thought Kuwaiti looks more like a slower variation of Bambi

OK, so we've had about four rhythms mentioned here and not one qualifies as a Kuwaiti rhythm of any sort? Wow! I don't recall who suggested this rhythm or I'd hit him up for an explanation.

So now I have to ask: the rhythms you folks have mentioned here--are they common enough to be included in a lexicon? Or should be common enough to be included?

If so, the typical questions then apply, such as what common name do they appear as (whether accurate or not) and what name should be associated (if the common name is inaccurate)?
