Middle Eastern Percussion

public - created 05/31/04
A tribe formed for and by Middle Eastern Percussionists for the purpose of discussion, idea exchange, rhythm swapping, helpful tips and techniques, and education for the fledgling drummer to the advanced player. Though all percussionists are welcome, this tribe is specifically focused on players and enthusiasts of classical Middle Eastern percussion on the various tabla from the Middle East, specifically the doumbek (dumbek, doumbec, darbuka, derboucka), the riq (riqq, Egyptian tambourine), the frame drum (bendir, muzzar, tar, def), and the tabla baladi (davul) to name a few, and zils are welcome too!
